SCIENTIST, ANALYTICAL SCIENCE

CovX is a division of Pfizer’s Biotherapeutic and Bioinnovation Center located in San Diego.  Since its founding, CovX has made advances toward building a portfolio of clinical candidates.  We use our proprietary technology to rapidly discover and develop long-acting biological therapeutics.  The CovX technology unites the therapeutic attractiveness of peptides with the beneficial properties of antibodies, resulting in a new biopharmaceutical called a CovX-Body.  The highly flexible nature of our technology enables us to identify high-value biological targets, efficiently create CovX-Bodies, and expeditiously move candidates to pre-clinical development and clinical evaluation.

 

As a member of the Analytical Science team this position will coordinate with other team members in the development of analytical methods for the characterization and analysis of protein conjugates. Responsibilities will include generating and analyzing data, drafting development reports, SOPs and other controlled documents to support pre-clinical/clinical activities.   Other responsibilities include:

 

  • Development of spectroscopic, chromatographic and electrophoretic assays for the characterization of COVX drug products
  • Equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Generation of method development reports
  • Use strong troubleshooting skills and innovative thinking to solve assay problems

Job Qualifications

 

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry with 0-2 years experience or a BS/MS in Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry with 6 -10 years of relevant experience gained in biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Extensive laboratory experience in high performance liquid chromatography for the biophysical characterization of proteins and peptides is required
  • Mass spectrometry experience is highly desirable, but not required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of instrumental and bioanalytical methodology, such as spectroscopic, chromatographic, enzymatic and electrophoretic techniques
  • Demonstrated talent for problem solving, effective communication skill and a thorough scientific approach
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including accurate forecasting of resource needs
  • Demonstrated broad understanding of cross-functional interactions
  • Solid data management and technical report writing skills
  • Working knowledge of cGMPs, regulatory and industry technical standards and guidance documents
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively participate in project teams
