CovX is a division of Pfizer’s Biotherapeutic and Bioinnovation Center located in San Diego.  Since its founding, CovX has made advances toward building a portfolio of clinical candidates.  We use our proprietary technology to rapidly discover and develop long-acting biological therapeutics.  The CovX technology unites the therapeutic attractiveness of peptides with the beneficial properties of antibodies, resulting in a new biopharmaceutical called a CovX-Body.  The highly flexible nature of our technology enables us to identify high-value biological targets, efficiently create CovX-Bodies, and expeditiously move candidates to pre-clinical development and clinical evaluation.

As a Scientist in the Biology Drug Discovery team, this position will independently contribute to the CovX portfolio by establishing methods and validating targets in the discovery and characterization of novel therapeutics, with an emphasis on metabolic disease.  Specific responsibilities to include:

• Engage in/lead projects, generate and evaluate project ideas, work collaboratively with other groups to achieve objectives and timelines
• Conceive, develop, and validate cell-based functional assays
• Employ standard molecular biology and general protein handling skills
• Effective and detail-focused communication and documentation of research results

Job Qualifications

• Successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in a relevant biological science with 0-2 years postdoctoral experience, or an M.S. with 3-5 years industry experience
• Strong skills in critical evaluation of complex biological systems, and evidence of ability to reduce ideas to practice, particularly in the area of metabolic disease, are required
• Excellent conceptual understanding of cell and molecular biology, particularly as applied to biotherapeutic drug discovery, is required
