Tavistock Life Sciences is a division of the Tavistock Group, a privately-held organization whose holdings serve the needs of businesses and consumers worldwide in life sciences, financial services, real estate, oil and gas, leisure services, retailing and manufacturing.

In addition, the Tavistock Group has been instrumental in the creation of the Lake Nona master-planned community.  The centerpiece of the community is a burgeoning "Medical City" that includes the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and the renowned Burnham Institute for Medical Research with construction on these projects beginning in 2007 with the first facilities opening in 2009.

The University of Florida has also announced it will co-locate a research facility within The Burnham's campus. Veteran Affairs has selected Lake Nona as the new home of a half-billion-dollar state-of-the-art VA Medical Center that will serve an estimated 90,000 veterans throughout Central Florida. In addition, a significant teaching hospital and healthcare center is planned for this emerging life sciences cluster.
