RESEARCH ASSOCIATE II, ANALYTICAL SCIENCES

Job Code: DO-0804

CovX is a division of Pfizer’s Biotherapeutic and Bioinnovation Center located in San Diego.  Since its founding, CovX has made advances toward building a portfolio of clinical candidates.  We use our proprietary technology to rapidly discover and develop long-acting biological therapeutics.  The CovX technology unites the therapeutic attractiveness of peptides with the beneficial properties of antibodies, resulting in a new biopharmaceutical called a CovX-Body.  The highly flexible nature of our technology enables us to identify high-value biological targets, efficiently create CovX-Bodies, and expeditiously move candidates to pre-clinical development and clinical evaluation.

As a member of the Analytical Science team this person will work with other team members in the development of bioanalytical methods for the in vitro and in vivo characterization of antibody-based drugs.  Responsibilities will include generating and analyzing data, drafting development reports, SOPs and other controlled documents to support pre-clinical/clinical activities.  This individual will coordinate activities within CovX as well as with external contractors to ensure timely support of CovX projects.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Development, qualification, and transfer of immunoassays and other bioanalytical methods for CovX drug product lot release (potency), pharmacokinetic analyses, and immunogenicity testing.
  • Protein reagent modification (e.g. biotinylation) and characterization.
  • Equipment maintenance.
  • Generation of method development and stability reports.
  • Coordinating the generation of critical protein reagents.
  • Using strong troubleshooting skills and innovative thinking to solve assay problems.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Biological Science/Biochemistry or related field plus 2 - 5 years relevant industry experience or an MS degree with 0-2 years relevant industry experience.
  • Laboratory experience with immunoassay (e.g. ELISA) and other immunochemical techniques.
  • Experience in the purification, modification, and functional characterization of proteins is desirable.
  • Designs and executes protocols and interprets data from experiments.
